Through professional sterilization technology, the company achieves the concept of “shelf-stable consumption,” eliminating the need for refrigerated storage and effectively reducing energy consumption during transportation and storage while enhancing flexibility and environmental sustainability. In 2024, HANTECH Biotechnology collaborated with the Food Industry Research and Development Institute (FIRDI) to optimize sterilization operating conditions and process design. While meeting food safety and regulatory requirements, the company improved production efficiency and reduced the consumption of resources such as energy and steam, demonstrating its R&D capabilities in using scientific evidence to advance manufacturing processes while balancing environmental benefits.
To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, HANTECH Biotechnology has implemented various energy-saving, carbon-reduction, and resource-efficiency initiatives, including improving the operating efficiency of equipment at different voltage levels and implementing gas energy-saving measures. Following the relocation to its main facility in Xihu in 2024, the company began using natural gas throughout the facility to generate the steam required for production. The Yuanlin plant also converted its fuel system from liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to natural gas, effectively reducing energy expenditures while maintaining production capacity. In terms of water resources, HANTECH has optimized its RO water system through technical improvements to reduce water consumption and strengthen operational resilience during drought conditions. The company has also introduced wastewater recovery and reuse mechanisms to improve the efficiency of water resource circulation.
In terms of packaging materials, HANTECH Biotechnology actively promotes material optimization and reduction initiatives. The company has adopted eco-friendly ink printing and FSC-certified paper, and was among the first to use FSC-certified materials in its “Designed for Xihu” project, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable packaging and social responsibility. All product cartons are made with recycled paper pulp and have undergone lightweighting and thickness adjustments to improve packaging sustainability. For sealing films, the company uses recyclable POF material, which offers good shrinkability and transparency and can be processed through general plastic recycling systems, helping reduce the amount of waste sent for incineration and landfill.
HANTECH Biotechnology’s main facility is located in Xihu, an important fruit and vegetable production area in Taiwan. With local ingredients at the core of its product development, the company has created “Relax & Sleep Drink,” incorporating Xihu grapes, and “Jiu Jiu Energy Drink,” featuring Xihu chives. By combining local characteristics with consumers’ health and wellness needs, these products demonstrate the integration of the company’s R&D capabilities with the unique character of the local region. In 2025, HANTECH Biotechnology set up a booth at the Xihu Sugar Factory, where it distributed products free of charge to passengers riding the small train and provided guided-tour maps, inviting visitors to explore local stories.
